This series combines my passion of warblers and my love for design. Using only stacked geometric shapes—circles, ovals, lines—I created precise 2D portraits of every warbler species found in Northeast Canada.
Each design is faithful to the birds’ colors and patterns, but distilled into clean, minimal forms.
The process…
These 42 warbler illustrations were truly a labour of love. Using a simple browser-based editor (Canva), I stacked hundreds of small geometric shapes—mostly circles and ellipses—layer by layer until the form of each bird took shape.
The process involved a lot of quiet adjustments, slowly refining colors and patterns to capture the essence of every species. The goal was never perfect realism, but a creative interpretation that feels both recognizable and unique.
This collection reflects patience, curiosity, and above all, an appreciation for the beauty of Northeastern Canada’s warblers—42 species brought together, one shape at a time.
