During mid- to late May in the greater Montreal area, the perturbed habitats and young forests around the south-shore region become a goldmine for migrating warblers and other songbirds. Because the trees are shorter and the forest structure is younger, birds are both concentrated and often at eye level—ideal for close observation and photography.
With my trained ear, I can locate species by their songs before they’re visible, giving you the best chance to see and capture them throughout the day.
This workshop is designed for birders and photographers who want more than quick checkmarks on a list.
The sparsely forested landscapes of the south shore offer density of birds and access: big flocks of migrating birds moving through a compact area, often just a few meters away.
With guidance on both identification by ear and fieldcraft for photography, you’ll have the chance to slow down, watch carefully, and come away with both knowledge and images.
